About this property

Lemon Tree Cottage - The epitome of relaxation: your own cabin in the woods.

Lemon Tree Cottage is one of six original timber workers houses to have been restored in the Old Saw Mill Town at Brooman. Enjoy the tranquil Clyde River all year round, this secluded haven offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Imagine waking up to the gentle rustle of leaves and the melodic chirping of birds, as sunlight filters through the canopy above. Your mornings start with a warm cup of coffee on the porch, where you can watch the cattle graze peacefully in the distance and the river flow. Inside, the cottage exudes rustic charm with its wooden beams, cozy fireplace, and comfortable furnishings. Evenings are spent curled up with a good book or enjoying a board game with loved ones, the crackling fire providing a soothing background. For the adventurers, the surrounding forest trails beckon for exploration. As night falls, the sky transforms into a canvas of stars, undisturbed by city lights, perfect for stargazing and making wishes. A cottage in the woods is not just a place; it's a state of mind—a retreat where time slows down, and life's simple pleasures come into sharp focus. Whether you're seeking solitude, quality time with family, or a romantic getaway, this sanctuary offers the perfect setting to rejuvenate and reconnect with nature and yourself. The cottage includes an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen space, a king-sized bed, and a full bathroom with a large bathtub for ultimate relaxation. Linen is not supplied however can be hired at an additional cost if you wish. Please note the property is 100% off the grid and operates on solar power and rain water. We do however provide Wi-Fi if you wish to stay connected to the outside world. The old town site is set opposite a large bend in the Clyde river. Deep water extends from the bend nearly kilometre upstream. It is a great place for canoeing, fishing for Bass, Platypus watching or simply listening to the dozens of unique and beautiful endemic bird species of this area. There is a resident mob of Eastern Grey Kangaroos that typically come out at dusk. Red Neck Wallabies dart about the place. There are also Bandicoots, micro bats, blue tongues and Possums. The buildings date back to the late 1800’s to early 1900’s and once supported a thriving community of up to 200 people employed in the timber mill. Brooman had a post office, school, dance hall, mechanics building, galley, general store, phone exchange and cottages like the Lemon Tree for the saw mill workers and their families.

Perfect getaway

Perfect off-grid getaway. No complaints at all, cabin was stunning and rustic, verandah with the day bed was superb. Not too far from the coast if you needed anything.

Incredibly Peaceful

I had the most relaxing week at Lemon Tree Cottage - a slow week, reading on the day bed out on the verandah, cooking by the crackling woodfire and watching wombats, kangaroos and the odd bandicoot wander by. The river just down the hill, and the stars at night just made it even better. One of my favourite holidays to date - just special.
